Timbers provide a skeletal-like frame, which supports an entire building/structure, including fence posts. Traditionally, timbers were driven face out, begged together, and then in filled. This produced a visible frame from the inside, out. Today, timbers still provide great structural support with fewer, larger pieces of lumber, while also providing aesthetic and structural benefits. Vertical timbers are also known as posts, which support structures at corners or other major uprights. Horizontal timbers include sill beams, noggin-pieces, and wall plates. And sloping timbers provide trusses and braces. Timbers provide great structural support in new numbers!

Beaded Ceiling (Douglas Fir, Lodgepole Pine End-Matched, Radiata Primed Finger-Joint) | Flooring (Douglas Fir, Southern Yellow Pine, Lodgepole Pine End-Matched). Patterned lumber is largely associated with early American Décor but with modern technology, new patterns create modern finishing lumber. Most patterns are reversible providing a choice of pattern or surface finish in one board. Patterned boards are inspected and graded on the pattern or face side, but the back face can add to the design (which may be a lower the grade). There are many different patterns, and each pattern has a style and number. For example, Tongue and Groove, Beaded Ceiling, WP-4, and Car Siding are just a few patterns available.

Our unique TrimEnds™ products allow the truss to be trimmed on the job site for an exact fit. Other trusses typically cannot be adjusted for site conditions that may not be exactly as expected. TrimJoist® products are also great for angled walls.
Unlike other solid I-type joists, the TrimJoist® features strut webbing. This eliminates the subcontractor’s need to cut holes. Thus, the valuable floor cavity space is available for plumbing, electrical, and duct work, making them great for use in basements. Say goodbye to drop-down ceilings.
The TrimJoist® features a 3.5-inch flange on both top and bottom. This makes subfloor application simpler and quicker. The wide surface also allows for the application of more glue to resist the shearing action between the joist and subfloor. Also, more nails hit their mark, thereby reducing the likelihood of squeaks.
Since we use a 23/32-inch-thick OSB in our TrimEnd™ sections, the use of compression or “squash” blocks is almost entirely eliminated. Only under the heaviest of load conditions must additional blocking be used.

Beautiful
Cedar has a warmth of color and varying grain pattern that is unmatched by the many synthetic and composite products that have been invented to replace it. Even with solid colors, Western Red Cedar has a texture and authenticity that is still the most desired appearance for high end design.
Durable
Beautiful CedarCedar is an ideal choice for both interior and exterior uses. It is one of the most naturally durable and decay resistant softwoods we can use to build our homes. The wood of Western Red Cedar contains naturally occurring fungicides, called thujaplicins, which give Western Red Cedar its resistance to decay. Another extractive in the wood, thujic acid, helps makes it resistant to insect attack. Properly installed and finished, Western Red Cedar will last for decades or centuries – even in the harshest of environments.
Stable
Like all woods, Western Red Cedar will absorb and discharge moisture to reach equilibrium with its environment. However, Cedar’s consistent, low density allows it to cup, warp and twist much less than other exterior softwoods.
Workable
Cedar’s low density and consistency make it an ideal wood to cut, saw, nail and glue. Even a handsaw goes through cedar “like butter”.
Stainable CedarStainable
Western Red Cedar, though rich in extractives, is free of the pitch and resin found in other softwoods, making it ideal for a wide range of finishes. From lightly toned clear solutions or semi-transparent stains to multi-coat solid colors, Western Red Cedar is superior in its ability to accept and maintain a finish.
Lightweight
LightweightWestern Red Cedar’s unique cell structure makes it one of the lightest commercial softwoods. At 12% moisture content it weighs approximately 23 lbs per cubic foot and has a relative density (specific gravity) of .32. Western Red Cedar’s low density makes it easy to handle and economical to transport.
Thermal and Acoustic Insulation
Western Red Cedar is superior in its ability to resist thermal conductivity more than any other commonly available softwood. At 12% moisture content it has an R value of 1.35 per inch of thickness, which is 8 times better than concrete, 400 times better than steel, and 2,000 times that of aluminum.
Western Red Cedar has very good sound dampening properties and is superior to most other sidings and panelings.
Abundant
Abundant CedarWestern Red Cedar has a vast growth range and – like other North American softwoods – is replanted at a rate 7 times that of harvest.
Renewable
Do any research on Western Red Cedar and other North American softwoods and you will discover what those of us in the construction business already know: wood is the most renewable resource for the construction of just about any part of your home. Cedar boasts a far superior “Green” story than any of its plastic, steel, aluminum, or concrete replacements.
